The Coming KINGDOM OF GOD…
It has been 2000 years since Jesus was on this earth. Many do not realize that when He was living (2 BC – 33 AD) in the Judean territory under Roman occupation, Jesus was fully human. He was born as a man into this world to become the “last Adam” (I Cor. 15:45). What this meant was that Jesus was purposely born into this physical world with a physical body to “redo” what Adam had failed to do in the Garden of Eden. Then Jesus had to “undo” the price of sin through faith and forgiveness. Jesus was a sinless man filled with the Holy Spirit (I Peter 2:22; I John 3:5).
Jesus was performing as the “Kinsman Redeemer” to fully save humanity from the bondage and debt of sin = death. Jesus had to do this as a blood relative of humanity! Otherwise, an angel could have come to save humanity or even God the Father, but the law required “blood for blood” (Gen. 9:6; Heb. 9:18). Therefore, Father God sent His one and only Son as the Son of Man who came in the flesh to save all of humanity (John 1:14).
The sole message during Jesus’ earthly ministry was all about the Kingdom of God. Jesus did not go around just teaching on “how to get saved” to everyone He met. Not at all. Rather, His main purpose was to preach and teach about THE KINGDOM. The gospel message of the good news has been defined through a very narrow lens of salvation for the past 2000 years. This has really damaged and haulted the full plan and counsel of God being preached to the nations. Not many Christians today understand what the Kingdom of God is and what Jesus was proposing to his audience for all generations to come.
“Jesus said to them, ‘I must preach the Kingdom of God to the other cities also because for this purpose I have been sent'” (Luke 4:43).
“And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14).
“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people” (Matthew 4:23).
The Kingdom of God all starts with His Throne represented as “fire”: Daniel 7:9-10
“As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before Him. Thousands upon thousands attended Him; ten thousands times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, and the books were opened.”
This “fire” is also seen in the burning bush that Moses encountered on Mount Sinai (Exodus 3:1-17). This “fire” is symbolic of God’s nature and law. In the New Testament, Jesus is called upon to baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire (Luke 3:15-18). During the first four centuries of church history, there was an awareness and understanding of the “fire of God” = LAW OF GOD. To our great disadvantage, that ancient knowledge has been forgotten for many centuries. Thus, scholars are amiss trying to understand what this fire is really referring to for us today.
Jesus came to lay a foundation of how the Kingdom of God was going to invade the earthly realm through the representatives of His elect. The Holy Spirit was released on the Day of Pentecost to make every individual a “living stone” making up the “temple of God.” This earthly temple (spirit of man) was to carry God’s law upon the earth just like what the Ark of the Covenant represented in the Holy of Holies. Through the rebirth of the spirit of man, humanity could begin the process of being made whole again one step at at time…spirit, soul and body. As the people of God experience spiritual birth…then to spiritual fruit…then to spiritual gifts, they will then be able to qualify to not only be citizens of God’s Kingdom but to become ambassadors for God’s Kingdom to the nations.
Jesus said that “the Kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21) because each of God’s people has the potential of releasing God’s anointing to usher in His will and way upon the earth. The way His purposes and plans will become implemented upon this earth is through the understanding of God’s government in heaven that will be mirrored upon the earth. The fire of God or the law of God must be understood and executed upon the earth. This is the foundation of the Kingdom of God that Jesus was teaching and preaching in his whole duration of his 3 1/2 year ministry in Judea.
When Jesus returns upon this earth, He will come to establish His Kingdom with judicial authority and legislative power. First, the Kingdom must have a king = Jesus. Second, it must have governing agents that know the laws of God = The Elect. Third, this Kingdom must have territory and boundary lines = the nations. Fourth, it will have citizens = Believers. Lastly, it must have a governmental system of laws in which everyone must abide by = Biblical Law.
So if you have thought that the goal of your life is to enter into heaven, floating on fluffy clouds singing hallelujahs with a chorus of angels for eternity, think again! Those that have been practicing God’s principles of righteousness, truth and love already will be chosen to rule within His Kingdom. How much of Biblical law do you understand to be able to practice it upon the earth? Like David spoke of how much he loved God’s laws (Ps. 119:97), we will begin to love God’s laws. There are ancient principles that underlie Biblical law in which nations will need to apply to their culture and planning. The 1000 millennium year reign and rule of Christ on earth will not be “spiritual,” but rather it will be “real” as God’s Kingdom is being fleshed out in judicial order…one nation at a time.
“Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His Kingdom will be an everlasting Kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey Him.” Daniel 7:27
