A BABY KING Wrapped in Swaddling Cloths…

Prior to the popularization of the Gregorian calendar in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII, the Julian calendar was used. The Julian calendar was proposed by Julius Caesar in 46 BC which was a reform version of the Roman calendar that existed since 753 BC by Romulus, the first Roman King. The tracking of time periods and the chronology of major events have never been unified in the ancient world until Dionysius Exiguus, a 6th century monk living in Rome, invented the calendar based upon Christ’s birth. This calendar dating was not widely used until after AD 800 when Charlemagne was crowned as the first Holy Roman Emperor on Christmas day by Pope Leo III.

AD = anno Domini nostri Jesu Christi (In the year of our Lord Jesus Christ – Latin) and BC = “Before Christ.”

The Gregorian calendar that adopted this dating system from Dionysius Exiguus is the most widely used calendar in the world today. However, many historians and scholars agree that Dionysius was wrong in his calculations of Jesus’ birth. Since the number zero was not known in Europe at that time, you skip from 1 BC to 1 AD with no ZERO year. Because so much of Christianity within the Roman Catholic Church was molded by pagan Roman and Greek customs for the past two thousand years, Christ’s birth was tagged along with the common tradition of the winter solstice on December 25. Since then, that date has never changed to match the true historical date of Christ’s birth; rather it has become a symbolic “cultural/social” day to the modern world. Christians need to know this and should be taught this historical fact in every Christian church.

Most historians agree that Jesus was born no later than October due to the fact that Palestinian shepherds would never be out on the fields in the cold winter (Luke 2:8). Secondly, the barn like structure depicting the European style of the manger was really more like a cave structure that Palestinian neighbors housed their animals during the night: http://www.biblearchaeology.org/post/2008/11/08/The-Manger-and-the-Inn.aspx#Article   Thirdly, the shepherds that would have watched over the sheep were probably young boys who were 13 – 16 years old. Lastly, the bright star that hovered over Bethlehem was the progression of three conjunctions in the constellations of Leo that climaxed into the convergence of Jupiter and Venus. This bright “star” merged as one bright star over Bethlehem in the 12 months progression between September 3 BC to September 2 BC. Thus, through much toil and research, I have come to the conclusion that Jesus was born on the FEAST OF TRUMPETS in 2 BC: https://gods-kingdom-ministries.net/teachings/books/when-really-was-jesus-born/chapter-1-when-really-was-jesus-born/

More than trying to calculate the exact timing of Jesus’ birth, the greater importance is in understanding the purpose of His FIRST COMING. First of all, Jesus came during the time frame that He did to fulfill Daniel’s prophecy of the 70 weeks = 490 years (Dan. 9:24). Jesus was finally born after 490 years of Daniel’s prophecy of being back into the land in Ezra’s time of 458 BC. Then Jesus prophesied that Jerusalem would be destroyed by the Romans (70-73 AD) within a generation (40 years) after He would be crucified (Matthew 24). Thirdly, Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies in the Old Testament that spoke about His FIRST COMING: https://jewsforjesus.org/answers/top-40-most-helpful-messianic-prophecies/

The role of the Tribe of Judah was to bring forth the Christ child through the Davidic bloodline (Gen. 49:8-12; Matthew 1). Once Jesus fulfilled His first mission in His FIRST COMING, the land of Judea was no longer needed. In fact, due to the Jews refusing to recognize the Messiah during their time, the land of Judea has been taken away from them until Jesus returns. Only the true Messiah can restore that land for the purpose of rebuilding it for the international Kingdom of God. Even all the Orthodox Rabbis understand this part of prophecy. They will tell you that the land of Judea has been taken away from the Jewish people due to their rejection of God: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awCOSRg-gks  What most Christians do not know is that the only other prophecy that needs to be fulfilled is from the Tribe of Joseph as we await the soon return of Christ.

There is no literal tribe of Joseph because Joseph received the DOUBLE BLESSING of the First Born Sonship (Rachel’s son) given by Jacob. The First born son would receive the land and the name of the family name (ISRAEL). The tribe of Joseph was given to his two sons: Manasseh and Ephraim; thus, Joseph received a double inheritance through his 2 sons and the tribal name of Joseph were given to his 2 sons: Tribe of Manasseh and Tribe of Ephraim (Gen. 48).

Only the kingship was given to Judah. This kingship would have been given to Reuben the firstborn of Leah but he defiled Jacob’s bed with Bilhah (Gen. 35:22; 49:3-4). Then Simeon and Levi who were next in line were disqualified due to their murderous spirit in killing the Canaanites and plundering them in their rage over Dinah’s rape (Gen. 34). Thus, the next son in line was Judah, the fourth son. [Talk about DRAMA over family issues…]

I CHRONICLES 5:1 – 2  “The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (he was the firstborn, but when he defiled his father’s marriage bed, his rights as firstborn were given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel; so he could not be listed in the genealogical record in accordance with his birthright, and though Judah was the strongest of his brothers and a ruler (Messiah) came from him, the rights of the firstborn belonged to Joseph).”

When the United Kingdom of Israel divided shortly after Solomon’s reign (930 BC), it divided between JOSEPH and JUDAH. They were later known as the House of Israel (10 tribes) and the House of Judah (2 tribes). Since Judah’s tribe has fulfilled the kingship of the Messiah through the birth of the Christ child, the kingdom of the Messiah is the only other thing that will need to be fulfilled through Joseph’s tribe NOT through Judah’s tribe. Thus, Jesus is returning after 2000 years to take His spiritual, international Kingdom of land and name for Himself once and for all to fulfill Joseph’s prophecy and birthright.

“He (Messiah) is dressed in a robe dipped in blood…” Rev. 19:13 is in correlation to Joseph’s robe. Remember how Joseph’s brothers hated him? His brothers tried to steal the birthright from him in Genesis 37:23 & 31 “So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe – the richly ornamented robe he was wearing…Then they got Joseph’s robe, slaughtered a goat and dipped the robe in the blood.”  And it was Judah’s idea to sell Joseph to the Ishmaelites for 20 shekels of silver so he could get rid of his number one competitor for the birthright.

The BABY KING was born in swaddling cloths (Ezek. 16:4; Lk. 2:12) in the FIRST COMING OF CHRIST as fulfilled by the tribe of Judah. However, the MESSIAH KING will return in a robe dipped in blood to vindicate Joseph’s rightful birthright of His international Kingdom. This will be the fulfillment of Joseph’s prophecy in the SECOND COMING OF CHRIST.

“He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshipped Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His Kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.”  Daniel 7:14

  1. Merci,

Another beautiful teaching of the birth of our Savior…I would like to add a little something I learned on the shepherds being actual priest from the temple who were doing shepherding work to assist in the birthing of the sacrificial lambs so that they would be unblemished for sacrifice. While the shepherds were keeping watch over the flock from the top floor of the tower, the shepherd-priests would bring the pregnant sheep in from the field to the tower’s bottom floor, where the sheep would give birth. As soon as a lamb was born, the priests would wrap it with strips of cloths made from old priestly undergarments. This was done to keep the lamb from getting blemished. I listed the link below:
